A Love Story

July 17, 2011 By Rachel

Here’s my love story…
I am in love…with New York City!  Can you be in love with a city? I think so…
I don’t know what it is about that city…but I love it.
I love the sites, the sounds, the smells, the people…
The fact that you can get anything you want at anytime of the day.
The first time I went was the end of May 2008.  That’s when the love began.
I crammed as much as I could into those four days.
When I fly in and see that skyline…my heart actually beats faster.  I know…you’re thinking I’m crazy.
Maybe I am.
I love seeing movies or tv show and saying, “Oh I’ve been there,” or “I know where that’s at”
These pictures don’t do it justice.  Being there makes all the difference.
I think know I could live there.  Not forever, cause I couldn’t be away from my family forever.
But for a little while I could.
I know that everytime I visit, I’ll see something or go somewhere I haven’t before.
But I also know…I’ll get to see my favorites.

This summer I did a several things from my 30 Before 30 list.
I saw my first and second show on Broadway!
They were spectaular!!  I have always loved musicals & plays and have seen several off-Broadway productions.  But nothing compares to seeing one in New York City!  The Lion King was by far the best show I’ve ever seen!!
Brooklyn is my favorite borough.  I stay in Brooklyn when I visit NYC and there’s just something so sweet about it. 😉  I think because it still has the charm of the city but doesn’t quite seem as fast paced.

I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge!
I had a picnic in Central Park!
And as always…I went to a Mets game!  Love those Mets!

I can’t wait to go back…
I’ll always love you, love New York.

I only have about 10 minutes before I lose them! 🤪
And I don’t know about you but my lessons are typically longer…so I try to mix it up every 10 minutes with a Think-Pair-Share or some kind of movement

Less teacher talk 🗣
More student talk 👥
1️⃣ Give your students time to catch up with each other. Even adults like to chit chat about what we did during break!
