Slim Down Saturdays

January 5, 2014 By Rachel

Hey, y’all! I hope everyone is staying warm!
Even though we don’t have any snow around these parts…
It’s crazy cold here!!  My southern self is not handling it well.
I’m freezing!
So I came across this great linky over at Third Grade Tidbits

It’s going to be a great way to keep myself accountable!

Ultimate Goal:
Yes, I want to lose weight.  Yes, I have a goal weight.  But my ultimate goal is to be healthy and comfortable in my own skin.
Gains/Loss For This Week:/Total Since Starting:
Well, I haven’t officially started.  I’ve been doing all the prep work.  And I’m very much a start on Monday type of person. I have also decided to weigh myself and take measurements this, but not to weigh myself again until February.  I don’t want it to be about the numbers.  You see, I’ve lost the weight before.  I lost almost 50 pounds, felt great, looked great, but those lost pounds plus more came back.  I need this to be a lifestyle change.  So I’m focusing on eating right and moving more.
Positives From The Week:
I have a Pinterest Board where I’ve pinned a lot of motivational sayings. I call in my No More Excuses Board.  You can check it out here.  So I made my own Motivational Board and hung it in my kitchen.
Something To Do Better:
I’m working on Less “Fat Talk” Most times I talk about how fat I am or how awful I look in something or even just a mean comment to myself in the mirror.  I would NEVER say these things to someone else, so why do I say them to me?
Goal For Next Week:
I’m going to track my foods with My Fitness Pal.  I’ve used it before and it’s a great website/app.  You can find me over there as rachbv.  Feel free to leave your email and we can follow each other!
One Word:
The word that has been on my mind is LIFESTYLE.  This can’t just be a quick fix or just about looking good.  It’s about changing my life.

I definitely need to cut down on the fat talk. It's so true that we say things to ourselves that we'd never say to anyone else! I love your motivation board. Need to make that my next project! I'm your newest follower and would love for you to stop by sometime!

I love the motivation board idea! And I am so with you on being comfortable as the ultimate goal. I am one of those weigh yourself 3x a day people. Like the number is going to magically go down after dinner or something. I am going to try to only weigh myself on weigh in days. As long as I am working out at least I will know I am doing the right thing.

I am totally with you about wanting to be healthy and feel good. I think that is an important goal — not a number on a scale. And you are right about more positive self talk. Some of the things we say to ourselves would crush someone else so why do we think it's OK to say them to ourselves? Looking forward to being your fitness friend and to following your journey. We CAN do this! 🙂

Rachel I love the motivation board! I am going to have to make one for my fridge. I am also a start Monday type of person and I will be using my fitness pal too.

      Hi Rachel
I really love idea of 'less fat talk'. It's something we all do and probably aren't even aware of, I think that might be another goal for me too. Well done for starting this journey, I hope we all do well in making the progress we want this year!

I completely understand your need to feel good in your own skin! Last year I lost 30 pounds and that, plus more is back. Ugh! I need to hop on board with this!

I track food on My Fitness Pal {I am almost always over}, but it is a good way to just see what goes in your mouth. Once you starting logging it down you realize how much you eat it one day. Thanks for sharing!!

Hey Rachel! Your inspiration board you made is inspiring…lol! Visuals always help. Just like you I have pinned a lot of quotes and such, but it would probably be better if I had them in physical form like you (and arranged so nicely!). Looking forward to sharing our health lifestyles with each other through the Saturday Slimdown!
