I Need Positive Thinking!

April 27, 2014 By Rachel

I missed it.
I have no excuse.
I was being lazy.
There…I said it.
I hope Jennifer doesn’t mind that I’m linking up 3 days later.
Are you okay with Positive Thinking Sunday?
We’ve been up to our eyeballs in test prep!
Our state testing starts May 6th and last week we had our end of the year MAP testing.

I know that test scores don’t define me.
But often during the midst of this “season” it’s hard not to think that way.
My students all made good growth on their MAP test, however they didn’t met their computer set goals.
I am very proud of the progress they made!!
It’s just frustrating that district officials won’t see that.

My students have made a lot of progress this year!
And that’s what keeps me going!

Ahhhh….I hear you, sister! Testing stinks, especially since so little of what they test on will be something they will use in life. You are right, though. Your students HAVE made progress. That is what matters. The rest is just a number. 🙂

You know what, lady? As long as your babies made growth who cares if they made a set goal? Don't "they" always tell us each child learns in a different rate, in a different way? So what makes them think they'll all make expected growth? As long as you know you taught your best and they did their best, it's enough. Don't let a piece of paper with scores define your success. You're a rock star! 🙂

See…that's the thing with me…I have a hard time showing growth because my kids are already at the top. I get so frustrated. GOOD LUCK on your testing! I'll be sending positive thoughts your way! XO

I only have about 10 minutes before I lose them! 🤪
And I don’t know about you but my lessons are typically longer…so I try to mix it up every 10 minutes with a Think-Pair-Share or some kind of movement
