This Memorial Day

May 26, 2014 By Rachel

Today is a gorgeous day in Charleston!
The beaches will be packed!
The rivers will be full of boats!
Summer is officially starting!
But we must not forget why we are celebrating today!
For many gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom!
This Memorial Day is a little different for my family.
My younger brother deploys to Afghanistan this week.
It isn’t his first deployment.
But it doesn’t make it any easier.
This time he’s leaving this cutie.
My family is blessed because we’ve never felt the loss other families have felt.
But we know the sacrifice military families endure.
My dad served 20 years in the Air Force.
My older brother was an Air Force Reservist.
My younger brother currently serves in the Air Force.
Here are my mom’s thoughts on today.
We are military through and through.
So as you celebrate today (and you SHOULD celebrate)
Remember the fallen.
The ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Remember the families.
The ones who carry on their loved ones legacy.
Remember those still serving.
The ones who fight for our freedom.
America is the land of the free because of the brave!
I love you Justin!
Come home safe to us!

Praying for strength for you and your family during your brother's deployment. Your brother will be in my prayers for a safe return. Thank you for reminding all of us why we celebrate Memorial Day.
