What a Week!!

August 16, 2014 By Rachel

Hey Y’all!
I finally have a moment to sit down and write a blog post!
Isn’t it crazy that we forget how busy and tiring the beginning of the year is!
And the kids haven’t even shown up!!
Thought I’d give you a little highlight of my week by linking up with Doodlebug!
http://msrachelvincent.com/2014/08/five-for-friday-linky-party-august-15th.html
Monday was my first day back to work.
My principal had us broken up into different groups and we had to do a Paparazzi Activity and act out a bunch of different things!  It was a lot of fun and a great way to start the year!
My printer, laminator, and I have been BFF’s this week!
Print
Cut
Laminate
Cut
Repeat
Every time I think I’m done…I find something else!
I am not friends with scissors right now!
We had Meet the Teacher last night and 20 of my 25 parents came!!
That’s a big deal for my school!
I usually get 10-12 parents!
I’m so excited about this year!
I let my new students pick their desk this year!
It was interesting to see how they choose their seats!
I didn’t do anything over the top for this night.
I just set up my kidney table with a sign in.
Trying to get more parents signed up this year for Remind!
And what kid doesn’t love bubbles!!
I got the printable from here.
I’m super excited about Blog Hoppin’s linky party next week!
The plan is to schedule as many of these posts as possible since next week is my first week with kiddos!
And finally, my niece started K4 today!!
She was so excited!!
She loves to learn!
Happy Weekend!!

I'm considering letting my students choose their seats – at least for the first day! It will be interesting to see who knows who, and discover their little personalities. Have a great first week!

Yes the beginning of the year is SO exhausting. I'm nervous to go back!!! What is remind? I'd love to know more about it. Your room looks great, and congrats on having so many people show up for meet the teacher night. Have a great weekend.

I love the bubbles! That's awesome that most of your parents came to the Meet the Teacher event. I think your principal is awesome to plan such a fun, team-building start to the year! Is he/she always that awesome! Your niece looks so sweet! 🙂

I've signed up for Remind this year too. I'm excited about using it. Let me tell you, if I didn't have my own laminator, I wouldn't have been ready for Meet the Teacher night. It has been a life saver! Your room looks great and ready to go! Hope you have a great first day!

Tell me more about how you let your students choose where to sit. Did you put any parameters on it? I didn't have assigned seats in Kinder and loved it. I have in every other grade. But I want to be more open with seating, too.

I have Orientation on Monday. I'm getting nervous. I still have so much to do. I really should be sleeping instead of stalking blogs, but I am feeling left out of the internet world since going back to school. I need to find some time to squeeze in more stalking. Miss you!!! Good luck next week! XO

I know what you mean about not being friends with your scissors any more. I just had to order another refill pack of laminating sheets from Amazon. But it is better than having to wait in line for the laminator at school. I am going to try to use Remind with my parents this year too. I love the info sheet you put out at Open House. Have a great week!
