Hassle-Free Class Store

February 12, 2016 By Rachel

Do you have a class store?  Is your class store too much work?  I’m sharing how I run my class store that is super easy and hassle-free!
An easy and quick way to set up a classroom store that won't be a hassle every time!
This post contains affiliate links for Amazon. By purchasing an item on the Amazon site using these links, I will receive a small commission on your purchase. This allows me to keep my little website up and running.

Currency

I use Class Dojo as our currency, but you could use anything!  If you’re not familiar with Class Dojo or would just like to see how I use it, I wrote a blog post over at All About 3rd Grade.
I use Class Dojo because honestly, I don’t have the patience to keep up with paper money! #realtalk
My students “collect” their points for an entire month and then can spend their Class Dojo points in our class store! I only open the store once a month. It’s just too much work to open it more often! #morerealtalk

Class Store Display

I have this display set up on a closet door, so students can see it all the time.  It’s basically just a shopping guide, so as students are earning points, they can think about what they’d like to purchase.

It’s just a regular piece of paper of colored paper that I printed the point value on.  Then I used Velcro dots to attach the passes available for purchase.  I started using the Velcro dots because I wanted the option to change the passes around due to the demand.

Class Store Reward Passes

On the back of my closet door, I keep all the passes stored in library pockets.  I color coordinated them to match the signs on the front and the color I used to print the passes on.  It’s not necessary, but it helps on shopping day when students are checking out.

Reward Passes

The best part of our store, is 80% of their purchases do not cost me a thing! (Well, if you don’t count paper & ink, but I buy that stuff anyway!) The passes are the most popular items in our store!  It’s funny how certain passes trend each year.  Some years it’s the shoe free and some years it’s the lunch bunch!
I do have pencils, erasers, candy, and a treasure box full of trinkets. But I’m telling you, I usually just buy stuff once a year!  I often ask for donations for these from parents or put it on our class wish list.  But the passes are where it’s at! And you can grab your free sample passes below!

Shopping Day

I allow my students to spend or save their points. I have a recording sheet to keep track of, but with the ability to redeem points on Class Dojo, it’s really easy now.  I just use the tracking sheet to write down how much each student spends and then redeem the points when I get a chance later.  This has been a great system for our class!  And best of all, it’s low maintenance for me!

If you’re interested in the full set of passes plus all the display pieces for the class store, you can click here to find them in my TPT Store.  It is one of my best selling resources.
