What’s the best lie you told your students? 😂 I read this amazing book, Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun to my students on the first day of school one year. When we walked into the cafeteria, we found out they were serving spaghetti 🍝 and hot dogs 🌭 as our lunch choices. (I did not know this ahead of time) My students asked me if I planned that…so of course I told them YES!! 💀🤣 Needless to say…they were impressed 💁🏻‍♀️ Have you ever made up something to impress your students?!

Are you a prepper? Getting ahead is a great way to feel less stressed at the beginning of the year especially if your a new or first year teacher. So what can you do to get ahead? 1️⃣ Choose a focus: We can’t do it all so choose one are you want to focus on next year and get started on that
2️⃣ Routines & Procedures: Think about what worked and what didn’t work this year. Then think about how you want things to work in your classroom next year
3️⃣ Classroom Management: What kind of system do you want to have next year?
4️⃣ Print your standards and learning targets: This is great for new teachers or teachers changing grade levels
5️⃣ Classroom Decor: Do I need to say more? 🤣
6️⃣ Build your Classroom Library: Summer is the perfect time to hunt for new books!
7️⃣ Professional Development: There’s so many amazing ways to grow as a teacher
8️⃣ Class Website: Create or revamp your site. Google Sites is my favorite platform to use
9️⃣ Meet the Teacher: Create sign up sheets or a your presentation slides

What a year! No doubt this has been one of the tou

What a year! No doubt this has been one of the toughest years mentally. I questioned many days if I wanted to continue to be a teacher. I cried many nights because I didn’t have the excitement I’ve always had. 💔 But something changed this spring. I had a practicum student who spent time learning how to be a teacher. She mostly observed and taught 2 lessons. But we spent many planning periods talking about teaching. 🍎 It was what I needed to finish this year. It was the reminder I needed of how exciting teaching can be. It was the push I needed to ask for a student teacher next year. 👩‍🏫 Besides the kids, one of the things I love most about teaching is sharing that passion with others. It’s what helped me get through the mental block I was having. 🧠 If you’ve have time to reflect…what’s your take away from this school year?

Today was our last full day of school! Only 2 more

Today was our last full day of school! Only 2 more half days to go! I’m not going to lie…I will not be sad to see this crazy year go! But I will be sad to say goodbye to the little family I made with my 20 kids! 🥰 This cute idea is from @myteachersaysso

Help me decide!! 🤔 Now that almost everything has become digital, I don’t need these daily drawers. ⁉️So what should I use them for⁉️

How many weeks left of the school year?! Tomorrow

How many weeks left of the school year?!
Tomorrow starts the last push till the end of the year. I felt a lot of anxiety towards the end of spring break about going back. 😬 A memory on Facebook reminded me how I didn’t get this time with my students last year and it’s all I wanted. It’s not going to be easy the next 8 weeks but I’m determined to:
💗Not let negativity ruin my day
💗Cherish the relationships with my students
💗 Remember this year is a year kids will never forget - so enjoy the little things Things may look different in Room 404 (pic from last year) but we get to create memories this year and that’s what I’m looking forward to! What are you looking forward to in the last few months of school?

What do you use to keep your students organized? We are using these boxes that used to hold all of our books. But since we can’t use our cubbies...we had to change things up!! Is that not a metaphor for this crazy year or what?! 🤪

I’ve really struggled this year... I’ve strug

I’ve really struggled this year... I’ve struggled to enjoy teaching this year. And because of that, I’ve stayed away for social media for the most part. I’ve struggled with not wanting to hear about the amazing things others are doing because it made me feel sad that I wasn’t excited. I’ve struggled with not being able to hear about other teachers struggles because it would make me feel worse. But I will say for the first time since August there’s hope because slowly but surely my creativity is peeking through. I hope it sticks around. I’m sorry I haven’t been around lately...I just didn’t think it would be this hard.
